New Week

I am sooo glad that this is the start of a new week!  There were a lot of great things that happened last week, but there was also an overarching feeling of stress that DID NOT GO AWAY. Maybe it was because my week was one day shorter because of the long weekend I granted myself, but it felt like I was constantly trying to catch up with my projects and responses to things.

Thankfully, everything is squared away and taken care of, and I am starting this week with a blank slate...or at least one that has everything checked off that needs to be checked off.

I am very happy to announce that THE CLEARING will be given new life at Diversion Books!  Since we have the rights reverted from Exhibit A, Diversion is interested in repackaging and tightening the book a bit and releasing it as hybrid front list, which should be pretty cool.

I'm hoping that I may have a few other deals up my sleeve that will come through in the next few days (one in particular), so we'll see what this week brings.

I have to admit, though, that when I went into the office on Thursday and was waiting for the Montclair train in Penn Station, my eye drifted over the departures board to the train for Miami...

Query Critique

Hi, everyone!  I took yesterday off to enjoy the long weekend, but now it's query critique time! If you're not familiar with how to enter, take a look at my previous post to read the rules.  Good luck!

A Little Wedding, A Little "Wired"

I did it!!  I got a wedding dress...two, actually!  For $99 each, I can make up my mind later about which one is prettier.  I also made two friends while I was waiting in line, and they aren't getting married until 2016 either, so it was nice to know that I wasn't the only crazy person in New York who was thinking about dresses this early.

I debated about posting pictures of my two "the one"s, but I feel like that is a big no.  Instead, here is the Lovely lobby/waiting area...the entire store is just as pretty:

In other news, mark your calendars for February 10th!  My author, JB Turner, has the next book in his Jon Reznick series that will be publishing then.  You can also pre-order the book if marking the calendar just won't do it. The Jon Reznick Thrillers are an amazing action/government thriller series (the first two books were sadly not repped by me when they were first sold) that used to be with Exhibit A.

I'm finishing up my annual strategy session calls this week, all of which have been going extremely well, and getting dinner with Jessica when she is in town tomorrow!!!  I can't wait to meet her in person and do a live strategy session :)

Happy New Year!

Happy 2015!!!  How crazy is it that another year has gone by?  When I was out to dinner with my parents, my dad kept going on about how when he was a kid all the futuristic, robot movies that he loved took place in 2015.

Now that we are at the start of another year, I am scheduling my annual strategy sessions with my clients!  I copied Emily and started doing this last year, and it was a big hit with all my authors.  I basically schedule times with each of them to clarify what needs to be done, discuss any issues or concerns they might have, and update them, if necessary, on where things left off in 2014 for anyone with outstanding submissions.  I find it energizing to get a plan of attack going for the year and to figure out ahead of time what goals there are to meet!

So that is what I will be doing this week, along with catching up on some reading, and going to a bridal sample sale!  I saw this boutique online and thought it looked beautiful, but I have a feeling it's going to be a bit of a war zone when I'm there.  Wish me luck!
